  Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How far would you travel, would you come to the IoW?

A. Yes, there would be a charge for the ferry and you would need to pick me up at the ferry port. I have many clients on the Island

Q. I work Monday to Saturday so my only free day is Sunday would you come and see me then?

A. Yes, by prior appointment so that would be no problem.

Q. My Aunty lives in Salisbury would you visit her to do her Will?

A. Yes, I would need to add a charge for the fuel normally £10. The area I usually cover for this price is a 30 mile radius of Locksheath Hanpshire.

Q. If I want to leave my jewellery to my niece should that go in the Will?

A. Yes, it can go in the Will or it can go into a 'Letter of Wishes@, although a letter of wishes is not legal and binding so your Trustees do not have to follow it.

Q. What is an executor?

A. An Executor registers the death certificate, obtains the Grant of Probate, collects in all the assets, pays all the debts, and pays out to the beneficiaries. This is a responsible role and you should appoint someone you trust. You do not need to appoint a solicitor as the executor. Although they may need guidance in probate in the future.

Q. What is a Trustee?

A. A Trustee has the same role as an executor (as above) but then has the further responsibility of managing a trust, which may run for several years. For example, if money is left to children, it could remain in trust for them until they are 25 years old.

Q. Can Trustees and executors be the same people?

A. Yes they can

Q. How many should I appoint?

A. You only need one executor to act, although you should always appoint 'subs'. You need 2 trustees to act at any time together and you can have up to 4 acting together.

Q. What should I do if I fall out with someone who is in my will.?

A. Talk to me straight away, straight forward amendment. This would incur a small fee.
